Mediocrities everywhere – now and to come – I absolve you all.The play is set in eighteenth-century Vienna and follows the story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as told by his rival, court composer Antonio Salieri. The show starts with a flood of whispers – Salieri! Salieri! Murderer! Murderer!– and we find ourselves in Salieri’s bedroom, on the last night of his life when he has chosen to confess to being Mozart’s assassin.
