The Marriage of Bette and Boo
by Christopher Durang
The play opens with the picture perfect image of Bette and Boo being joined in holy matrimony. What at first seems like a promising marriage soon deteriorates into three decades of alcoholism, nervous breakdowns, death, divorce, and gravy, lots and lots of un-vacuumable gravy. This dark comedy is in the end about memory and finding a way to laugh at our own families, their dysfunctional stories, and the little absurdities in between.
