Expecting Isabel

“I began to wonder if maybe I wasn’t supposed to have a child. That all this trouble we’d been having was a sign. But from whom? I didn’t believe in God enough to accept a sign from him. And I couldn’t accept Nick’s point about God playing dice with the universe, because I just didn’t see God as a gambler…I thought He was a manic-depressive. Miranda and Nick are ready to have a child. But when life doesn’t go according to plan, they decide to do whatever’s necessary to get their baby: even if that means testing sperm fertility by injecting it into a hamster egg. An ensemble-driven comedy, “Expecting Isabel” follows Nick and Miranda throughout the whirlwind of not-quite-parenthood and the people whose paths they cross in the process. “Isabel” grapples with ideas of family, genetics, and the life-altering choices we make throughout life in the name of love–choices whose impacts we will never truly understand.
