What If White Were Black
What if we lived in a world in which being black was the norm and being white was different?
“What If White Were Black” tracks the lives of a pair of white twins, a boy and a girl, as they grow up learning what it means to be a minority in America. This film looks at the surface level of what discrimination is like in contemporary America while also tying in the deeper connections of how it is impossible to escape racism in a country built on the backs of their ancestors, furthered through the concept of inherent white inferiority. We explore this concept through individual scenes that display situations that our friends, our family, and ourselves have encountered throughout our lives, such as “the talk,” “stop and frisk,” “exoticization,” and many others.
