The production of this musical will be presented in part to fulfill the Music Department / Shen Curriculum Senior Project in Composition.Life isn’t so easy for the Bigtrees and their alligator-wrestling theme park “Swamplandia!” in Florida’s ten-thousand islands. Their mother and star wrestler, Hilola Bigtree, has died of cancer. A rival attraction, the World of Darkness, just opened in Loomis. And their father, Chief Bigtree himself, struggles to manage his debts. When brother Kiwi abandons his family for the mainland and sister Ossie runs away with a ghost, Ava, the youngest of the Bigtree clan, is the only one left to save the park. And she might succeed—she might win back “Swamplandia!” and rescue her sister from death’s door—if it weren’t for an unsuspecting Birdman, who promises to take her on a journey to the underworld.Music and Lyrics by Benji Goldsmith ‘14+1Book by Andrew Bezek ‘13Directed by Nailah Harper-Malveaux ‘16TICKETING NOTE: Don’t be dissuaded, sign up for the waitlist!
