Passing Strange
by Stew & Heidi Rodewald
“Call it a rock concert with a story to tell, trimmed with a lot of great jokes…Call it whatever you want, really. I’ll just call it wonderful, and a welcome anomaly on Broadway, which can use all the vigorous new artistic blood it can get.”–NY Times
Passing Strange tells the explosive/hilarious/heartbreaking tale of a black boy from LA’s coming of age, as he journeys across Europe to find “The Real.” In addition to telling a powerfully universal story of growing up and coming into one’s own, it paints a vivid portrait of race relations both in the US and abroad through a rich cast of POC performers, and offers a unique look at the transcendent power of art—all backed by an amazing mix of rock and soul music.
In this production, we’re looking for dynamic, ambitious collaborators who are willing and ready to join us in exploring the power of music and storytelling though our voices, bodies, hearts, and minds.
