In 2022, the owner of a Los Angeles based, family-run, Indi-Mex restaurant has the opportunity to franchise. In 1962, a Mexican woman and Punjabi peach farmer enter a “Mexidu” marriage in order to circumvent California’s stringent miscegenation laws. Jasmine Sharma’s PEACHY is a sorta chekhovian traumedy about cooking with love … and, family.

1. Sign up for an audition slot below.
2. Complete this short pre-audition form (only two required questions).
3. Choose one of the sides (excerpted scenes) linked below to prepare for your audition. You can pick any scene and any role. If you’re not sure which one to pick, please feel free to reach out for guidance or just show up early and we’ll give you one. It’s AOK if you don’t think it’s a role that it would be appropriate to cast you in. There will be another form after your audition where you’ll get to tell us which roles you would and would not accept, and anything else we need to know.
4. Prepare as best you can, in the time you have.
5. Bring your confidence and generosity to the audition room. A member of the PEACHY team will read with you.

2. Come to a Zoom Info Session on Monday, Sept. 30 @ 7 pm to meet Prof. Stokes, Daliya, Suraj, and Joaquin.

Here’s the PEACHY family:

• LOKPRAKASH (he/him), of South Asian ancestry, mid-20s. A young husband, a peach farmer, an immigrant, an entrepreneur.
• DIANA (she/her), of Latin American ancestry, mid-20s. A young wife, a cook, an immigrant, a visionary.
• LAKSHMI ALVAREZ (she/her), of South Asian ancestry, 50s. The owner of the Peach Pit restaurant.
• VALENTINA (she/her or they/them), of Latin American ancestry, late 20s. Lakshmi’s daughter. Manager of the Peach Pit. Goes by “Val.”
• ANJALI (she/her), of South Asian ancestry. Lakshmi’s daughter, early-mid 20s. Married to Faaz’s son. Has a small child.
• TARAK (any pronouns), of Black ancestry, mid-20s. Lakshmi’s new server. In love with Anjali.
• FAAZ (he/him or they/them), of Middle Eastern and/ or North African ancestry, 50s. Lakshmi’s pastry chef and Anjali’s father-in-law.
• GAEL (he/him or they/them), of Latin American ancestry, 40s. Lakshmi’s business partner, in love with her.
