Audition For Our Bodies by Ben Klebanoff

Audition Instructions:

We’re so excited you’re interested in Our Bodies!!!!!

We’ll be holding a meet and greet with our team on Sunday the 25th of September from 4-6ish at the Office of LGBTQ resources!! Drop in and out and ask us questions about the show, us, theatre, theatre at Yale, past shows, life, how auditions will work, our plans for the production or whatever you want really :))

On Tuesday the 27th of September we will also be hold an audition workshop (basically just a mock rehearsal), 4:30-6pm in Phelps Hall 207! Attendance is highly optional and won’t negatively affect your audition on our end in any way but if you want to see some of what we’re going to do during rehearsal/get a better feel for the show this is a great way to do it (feel free to dip in and out as well to accomodate your schedule if you can only make part of the session :)!

We will be holding the first round of auditions from the 1st-4th of October. If you are thinking of auditioning, please fill out this form so that we can get to know you a bit better beforehand!

In your audition we’ll ask you simply to bring in any monologue of your choosing. Memorization is not required. Attached here are three of the monologues in the play, which you are welcome to perform. If none of those take your fancy and/or you don’t have something else prepared, we’ve also linked a folder of a bunch of (queer) monologues that you can browse and use!! The only advice we’d give is to choose a piece that speaks to you and when it comes to identity and representation be sensitive and respectful about the story you are choosing to embody.

You can sign up for an individual audition at any of the times listed below (you have to be signed in/create an account on this websitre to select a slot). Saturday’s auditions will take place in Bass Library L70 (9-11pm), Sunday’s in Phelps Hall 207 (7-10pm) and Tuesday’s in Watson Centre A32 (1-2:30 and 4-5pm) [see our cover page for more details/directions]! If none of the times work for you, please reach out and we’ll figure an alternative out!

If you have any questions about the audition process or the production, please reach out to Carson (carson.white@yale.edu).

:))))

Note: Our Bodies includes depictions of transphobia and internalised transphobia, extended discussion of abortion, depictions and discussion of gender dysphoria, discussion of child abuse and an allusion to suicide and death ideation as well as sexual language and content. Please look at the audition packet for more information/a breakdown of this information by character!
