Unstable Connection
Unstable Connection is an original virtual devised show developed by a cast of six actors, one director, two associate directors, three dramaturgs, a composer, and many more team members over the course of the Spring 2021 semester. This is a show that aims to tell the stories of our time in the medium of our time: what does it mean to have to experience some of the most pivotal moments of a young person’s life - your first love, moving away from home, your first breakup - entirely online? At an age where you’re supposed to be immersing yourself in new environments and new groups of people, how can we still learn and grow when this isn’t possible (at least not in a traditional sense)? And how do we stay connected to the people we love when we can’t share space with them? Our play follows six characters from April 2020 to April 2021 as they navigate these questions, and what might seem like a fairly normal coming-of-age tale becomes a totally new story when set in extraordinary circumstances. This show was built from scratch by a collaborative ensemble of performers and production team members, so that as the world perhaps shifts back towards being more ‘normal’, we can question and explore together what might be learned from growing up in a very abnormal time. Free tickets are available here: https://unstable_connection_tickets.eventbrite.com/. Performances are Thursday, May 6, 7 pm EST; Friday, May 7, 7 pm EST; Saturday, May 8, 2 pm EST and 7 pm EST. We really hope you will join us to see what we’ve created together!
