Shining City
by Conor McPherson
In present-day Dublin, a woman comes to a counsellor seeking help after seeing the ghost of her recently-deceased wife. Meanwhile, the counsellor is dealing with his own crisis of faith and identity. Routine visits between the two transform into a desperate struggle between the living and the dead – a struggle which will shape and define both of them for the rest of their lives.
An examination of guilt, faith, sexuality, and identity, Shining City seeks to understand the tenuous phenomenon that occurs when we begin to haunt ourselves.
