Rachel Calnek-Sugin is an 19-year-old playwright and poet from New York City. She is a National Scholastic Medalist, three-time winner of the Write a Play NYC! competition, winner of the Changing the World with Poetry Award, recipient of the Knopf Poetry Prize, the Penguin/Random House Best of Borough (Manhattan) Award in Poetry, a semifinalist in the Norman Mailer Creative Nonfiction Award, and has had four short plays produced off-Broadway. Her full length play is currently undergoing development with Watermark Theater Company. Rachel’s work appears in Scholastic’s Best Teen Writing, Winter Tangerine Review, and elsewhere. She is currently a freshman at Yale University.
