Talley’s Folly
A Senior Project for Lily Lamb-Atkinson and Keith Rubin
by Lanford Wilson
Talley’s Folly is a two-person play, part of Lanford Wilson’s “Talley Trilogy,” which follows the lives of a generation in the Talley family. Talley’s Folly focuses on the love story of Sally Talley and Matt Friedman: the year is 1944, and Sally and Matt meet in the abandoned boathouse where they spent their first night together the year before. He has traveled to her home in Missouri to ask her to marry him, though she resists. Over the course of the play, the two lonely souls reveal their past to each other, and decide to spend the future together.
