Introducing the Class of 2024!
Class of 2024, welcome to Yale! We are so glad that you’re here, and we hope that you’re as excited to get started as we are to have you.
One of the greatest traditions of your first few days on campus is a huge ceremony where you and your families are welcomed into the Yale community with a singing of our alma mater, “Bright College Years.” While we can’t all be together in a physical space for this tradition, that doesn’t mean that you can’t take part in this quintessential first year experience!
We’ve organized the “Introducing the Class of 2024!” video that will feature the Class of 2024 singing “Bright College Years.” This is an opportunity for your class to formally introduce yourselves to Yalies scattered around the world. The song is traditionally sung by the whole community, so even if you “don’t sing,” you are not just welcome, but highly encouraged, to participate. We want as many members of the Class of ‘24 to participate as possible!
We invite and encourage you to record and submit a video of yourself singing the song (sheet music and links on how and where to submit your video are below) by 11:59 PM on Thursday, October 1, 2020. Your video will be virtually stitched together with those of your fellow classmates to create a performance unlike any other incoming class has done.
We recognize that there are serious issues of equity and accessibility when it comes to projects like these. If, for any reason whatsoever, you are unable to participate in this project due to a lack of access, please email email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org and we will work with you to find a way!!
*The Yale Singing Group Council (SGC) has officially postponed a cappella Rush for all fourteen SGC member groups until the 2021-2022 academic year. This event is not affiliated with a cappella Rush. Please visit the SGC Facebook page for more information or contact us via email@example.com with any questions or concerns.
