Trial by Jury
by Gilbert & Sullivan
Trial by Jury, Gilbert & Sullivan’s first opera, is a one-act comic operetta featuring the absurdity, humor, witty wordplay and singable tunes the team would become famous for with later collaborations like H.M.S. Pinafore and The Pirates of Penzance. The story takes place in a courtroom during a “breach of a promise of marriage” lawsuit, and lightly satirizes the legal system and its leading players. Trial by Jury is a wonderfully chorus-heavy piece, which runs around 40 minutes and has no spoken dialogue.
Auditions will be held Thursday 1/23 from 7:00-9:00 and Friday 1/24 from 6:00-8:00 in WLH 210!
