Though the Great Waters Sleep

Even Brock's Senior Choral Conducting Recital
Though the Great Waters Sleep Poster

Though the Great Waters Sleep is a program solely comprised of oceanic choral music. With four a cappella pieces and two pieces with piano accompaniment, the recital takes the audience on a narrative journey. From The Prow, which gleefully skids across the water’s surface, to Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae, which sinks deep into the pelagic abyss, the music explores the various facets of the ocean. The program is designed to submerge its audience in deep contemplation:

The Prow by Matthew Hazzard

Ecco Mormorar L’onde by Claudio Monteverdi

Full Fathom Five by Ralph Vaughan Williams

Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae by Jaakko Mäntyjärvi

Ave Maris Stella by Edvard Grieg

Though the Great Waters Sleep by Isaac Lovdahl

Even is very grateful to all the musicians and collaborators that made this recital possible. They can’t wait to present this culmination of their four years of music at Yale!
