A dance ode to feminine power with echoes of love, fury, and compassion

Shakti is Yale Kalaa and Yale Dhvani’s annual Indian classical dance and music production. Shakti means strength in Sanskrit and is also the name for the supreme Hindu feminine goddess. Thus, the dance drama showcases various stories of women in Hinduism, each embodying a unique aspect of feminine strength. Through an authentic experience of Indian Classical music and dance, the show depicts the nuance of femininity through the stories of Draupadi, Mirabai, Ganga, Mohini, Sita, and Durga.
