Laughing at Crying Babies

A Theater Studies Senior Project in Acting for Tarek Ziad

by Tarek Ziad

Laughing at Crying Babies, a Theater Studies senior project by Tarek Ziad, directed by Deborah Margolin & Mia Fowler

An original solo performance by Tarek Ziad, fusing stand up comedy and theatricality to create an hour long stand up special of sorts, somewhere between Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette and Kristina Wong’s Wong Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, that interrogates his relationship with race in America and American Theater as a Person of Color, as well as provides meta-commentary on how these subjects are dealt with in comedy.
