Poster of Jenny (Craig)

Jenny (Craig) is a 1-hour play that explores the effect of video surveillance on the racial imagination. The story takes place in 2010s New York City, where Jenny, a biracial black teenager, dates Craig, her white classmate from an African-American history class at their specialized high school. As Jenny and Craig delve into their relationship, Jenny creates a Chinese-American alter-ego named Bibbe to reflect on the ways in which she is being watched––at home, in her bedroom, on the street, and in her mind, where Craig’s love is put under increasing pressure. The original play is supported by the 2017 DMCA Interdisciplinary Arts Award.
