A Concert for Bulldog Days

Join the YSO for our free afternoon concert in honor of Bulldog Days! The program, which will run about an hour, features some of our favorite classic orchestral works and will delight YSO regulars and first-time attendees alike. In Alborada del gracioso, the “jester’s morning song,” different sections take turns at playing the jester. This will be followed by selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2, which portrays Shakespeare’s story with vivid musical imagery, and the moving fourth movement of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, conducted by Jacob Joyce, ‘14.Program: Maurice Ravel: Alborada del graciosoSergei Prokofiev: Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2 (selections)Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 - IV.
