Balcony Scene: A New Musical

Concert Reading of an original musical

Balcony Scene: A New Musical

A six-month workshop process will culminate in a concert reading of the original musical, “Balcony Scene” by Mary Ann Frank, Andrew Rubenoff and David Sasso. A contemporary musical comedy based on the world’s best loved romantic tragedy, “Balcony Scene” is set during the mayhem of tech week for a junior high production of “Romeo and Juliet.” A coming-of-age story which finds unexpectedly comic parallels to its source material, “Balcony Scene” is also a valentine to Shakespeare, to middle school and to the unsung heroes of the theatre. The creators are all associated with Yale University, including ties to the Drama School, Medical School and Department of Psychology.Part of Shakespeare at Yale, a semester of special events celebrating the Bard.
