All Night Vigil
Russian Choral Masterwork
by Sergei Rachmaninoff
Rachmaninoff wrote the All Night Vigil in 1915, composing with traditional Russian Orthodox chants even though he had split from the church. A stunning exploration of how personal faith can fit into a religious framework and community , this work is widely considered a masterpiece of the Russian Choral tradition. This acapella concert will be performed by a pop-up choir of Yale singers.
