a.k. payne (YC c/o 2019) is an English [w a concentration in playwriting] & African-American Studies double major. Her people are rooted in Pittsburgh, PA. Some of her favorite foods are sushi, samosas, mochi, & her grandma’s famous christmas cookies. She loves Noname, Kendrick,  Jamila Woods, & Tank & the Bangas. She makes work that reimagines histories and makes room for voices that were speaking, are speaking & will continue to speak. She owes all to God, her parents & her many mentors.
